New information has come to light concerning the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

When she went into the house, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.

Correcting the Record

The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

The source also pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction includes accounts of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Details

According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
